Social Media
Not only is social media a great way to get in front of customers, but it also greatly enhances your website’s performance. There is power in social media, and it dramatically impacts your search engine optimization. If there has ever been a “jackpot” when it comes to marketing your business and gaining exposure, it’s social media. With the BOOM of popularity surrounding Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, there’s a prime opportunity to connect with current and potential customers. Social media is typically free, or very inexpensive. It also allows business owners to capitalize on one of the most attentive audiences in the marketing atmosphere today. Some of you may be familiar with “push vs. pull” marketing philosophy. Successful marketers will encourage you to work on finding ways for “pull” marketing – meaning the customer is engaged in something and will pull you into their life. Push marketing (AKA tons of unwanted mail) is often an annoyance, and makes marketing to prospective customers MUCH more difficult. By creating a business profile on popular social media sites, you’re creating a presence in the “pull” marketing arena. Each one of these successful websites has created a demand for interconnectivity, and a strange phenomenon where people generally enjoy being marketed to, and pull their favorite brands into their everyday lives. Turn The Page Online Marketing will teach you the importance of social media, and how to set up your Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn profiles for your business. Social Media is part of the Essentials and Strategy lesson plans.

If you want to feel like an outsider in today’s culture, mention to someone that you don’t have a Facebook page. As the fastest-growing website in the world (even more visited than Google.com) Facebook has made quite an impression on our culture. If you’re not familiar with Facebook, it began as a site that connected college students. Initially, only those with a university email address could log on. Developers began to see the potential as thousands of college students signed on and connected with one another. Eventually, they opened up Facebook to anyone on the web, and it quickly became a phenomenon. For a more detailed history, watch “The Social Network” movie that came out in 2010.
The Twitter buzz hit the scene in 2006. Twitter had been up and running for a few years before celebrities started signing on and posting updates for the whole world to read, then the Twitter train really took off! Twitter is a social media site that gives up-to-date news and events on things happening around the world. Contained in a 140-character status update called a “tweet,” Twitter is a great way to share new information to an ever-growing network. The Twitter craze continues to grow each year, as there are 370,000 new sign-ups on Twitter every day and 95,000,000 tweets every day.
