Yahoo Business Listing
The whole Yahoo and Bing merger has altered the landscape of the relationship between the 2nd and 3rd ranked Search Engines. It used to be that Yahoo! was the second largest of the three major engines. Yahoo has a very extensive network of websites. The algorithm was based on that of Inktomi which Yahoo! purchased back in 2002 as part of their plan to stop serving Google results to search queries. At the time Microsoft was also using Inktomi as the basis of its search. This put Microsoft in the uncomfortable position of having their search controlled by Yahoo!, This situation forced Microsoft to build its own platform–Bing. Now in a twist of fate only matched by an Agatha Christie novel, Yahoo has ditched Inktomi in favor of the Bing infrastructure. This change is important for optimizers but searchers will not notice a diffference. Our Optimization Bundles are designed to stay ahead of the curve for the constantly shifting search environment for both Yahoo Business and Yahoo Search.

Yahoo Business Optimization
From a search perspective, getting ranked on Yahoo is now closely related to how well you’re indexed and ranked in Bing. That’s pretty much how you’ll be indexed and ranked in the Yahoo index. What do your titles and descriptions look like in the results in Bing? That’s how things will generally look in Yahoo. This might not be a bad thing for site owners as over the last year, things at Yahoo have seemed a little stagnant to say the least. However, that said Yahoo is an important player in the search arena and we continue to position our clients prominently through Yahoo Local Business Listings and optimization.
